New Ownership of Everyday LIFE Announced

Bethlehem, PA — October 7, 2013 — Presbyterian Senior Living announced today the sale of Everyday LIFE to Senior LIFE Lehigh Valley with an anticipated transition date of December 1, 2013

Everyday LIFE (Living Independently for the Elderly) is a comprehensive Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly and is funded by Medicare and Medicaid. Dedicated to help frail older people to continue living in their own homes or apartments, the program offers all services normally covered by Medicare plus an extensive array of in-home care, as well as meals, recreation, transportation and rehabilitation services at its center in Bethlehem.

Everyday LIFE became part of the Presbyterian Senior Living network in 2007 and was the first such program to serve seniors in Northampton and Lehigh Counties. There are approximately 100 participants served at the Everyday LIFE Center located at 2045 Westgate Drive in Bethlehem. They will continue to receive the quality health and quality of life care benefits they always have, and will now have access to the resources and expertise that has made Senior LIFE providers some of the most successful PACE organizations in the nation.

Senior LIFE Lehigh Valley is a recently formed entity affiliated with Senior LIFE, a brand of experienced, independent, PACE/LIFE providers operating in Pennsylvania since 2006. Collectively, Senior LIFE has six PACE Centers serving approximately 850 participants in 10 Pennsylvania counties. These include Senior LIFE Johnstown, Senior LIFE Altoona, Senior LIFE Greensburg, Senior LIFE Washington, Senior LIFE Uniontown and Senior LIFE York. The Everyday LIFE Center of Bethlehem will now be under the name and management of Senior LIFE Lehigh Valley.

According to Stephen Proctor, CEO of Presbyterian Senior Living, “Senior LIFE’s reputation as an experienced, high quality company ensures that the operations of the Program and the LIFE Center will remain in good hands. The organization’s focus on the PACE model of care makes Senior LIFE an ideal purchaser for the Program. We are confident that LIFE participants will continue to receive high quality of care and services under their ownership.”

Mark Irwin, Chief Operating Officer for Senior LIFE states, “Presbyterian Senior Living and Senior LIFE have laid a strong foundation of quality service and care for older adults. We are pleased to expand our services within the Lehigh Valley and are committed to enhancing the ability of seniors to live safely in the community as long as possible with an ideal alternative to nursing home placement.”

There are currently over 90 PACE/LIFE organizations in 36 states, with over 30,000 members and the program continues to grow. Many seniors are eligible for these services at absolutely no cost. Among Senior LIFE members, 98% of seniors pay nothing for services. There are no co-pays, deductibles, or premiums. Senior LIFE is an approved Medicare Part D provider, so there are no costs for prescription drugs. LIFE is funded by Medicare and Medicaid, and this unique system creates a three way partnership between the provider, the state, and the federal government. This integrated funding allows one provider to manage, provide and arrange for all care and services. PACE providers are strictly regulated for quality of care and because of this member satisfaction is high with many reporting more than a 90% satisfaction rating.

Pending CMS approval Senior LIFE Lehigh Valley is looking forward to opening its doors in December 2013 and is planning a grand opening soon after.
