Senior LIFE Uniontown Welcomes New Physician

Edgar A. Boone, M.D. has joined the medical staff at Senior LIFE Uniontown as a Primary Care Physician.

Dr. Boone received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is board certified in Family Medicine. He had a private practice in Herminie for 21 years, and also practiced at Mount Pleasant Main Street Medical, Excela Health for the past three years.

He brings a wealth of medical experience to the Senior LIFE team. “Seniors deserve quality care that also allows them to keep their independence,” says Dr. Boone. “For families who serve as a caregiver for aging loved ones, Senior LIFE offers critically needed support that helps many families avoid putting their loved ones in a nursing home. I’m happy to be part of a program that helps seniors to live their lives in their homes and communities.”

Dr. Boone will join forces with Dr. Rebecca Stumpf, current Senior LIFE Primary Care Physician to assist with the growing number of participants in the program.

Senior LIFE Uniontown recently completed a 4,000 square foot expansion in response to the rapid growth of the LIFE program in Fayette County and to the increasing desire of seniors to avoid nursing home placement and remain in their homes.

Participation in the LIFE Program is also expected to grow as Pennsylvania rolls out Medicaid Managed Care next year. Under the new managed care rules, Medicaid recipients must chose the local LIFE Program or a state-appointed managed care organization to provide for their care. Those 55 years and older and medically qualified will have the option to choose Senior LIFE. “This is good news for Fayette County seniors, as they will have the option to have all of their medical needs and support services provided locally by a long-time and trusted care provider,” said Natalie Martin, Senior LIFE executive director.
